Lunchtime Halo Highlights: 2008-03-31

We tried a new twist on our handicap leader variant today: high gravity for the leaders. The made some normal maneuvers impossible and turned man cannons and lifts into death traps.

Game 1: Handicap Leader (Slayer) on The Pit

(I somehow didn't notice until I went back to do video capture that these clips turned out to be exclusively "Watch Xor1an kill the rest of you," which I usually try to avoid.)

Image/Video Description

Xor1an sticks Zolimox, cazador jumps between them and Xor1an shoots him with his mauler. Xor1an gets a double kill, but Zolimox leaves a grenade that kills Xor1an.

Xor1an makes a risky move throwing down a power drainer and catching himself and cazador. Xor1an gets the battle rifle head-shot after cazador's shields have been drained.

Xor1an cleans up for a double kill (cenotaph and Doobie), then gets killed by Zolimox. Xor1an gets a "from the grave" on Zolmox.

Game 2: Handicap Leader (Slayer) on Guardian

We used a slightly forged version that replaced the needler with a fuel rod gun.

Image/Video Description

"Fuel rod gun is hard to use"
(sing to the tune of "Breaking up is hard to do")

Xor1n hits cenotaph with one round from the fuel rod gun, then repeatedly misses him with ricochets bouncing past him. He give up, meeles, then switches to the trusty Mauler.

Old-timey hammer

Xor1an's view from inside te explosion of cenotaph's brute shot.

Game 3: Handicap Leader (Slayer) on Epitaph

Image/Video Description

Spitting Spikes

The spike grenade stuck to Zolimox's face (by Xor1an) goes off.

Zolimox gets a triple kill: Xor1an and cenotaph with the needler, Doobie with a frag grenade (actually just wounded, but Doobies suicide by spike grenade counted). cazador refused to be the fourth for an overkill. (This is why we don't want Zolimox to have the needler.)

The second clip shows detail of how it was Doobie's own spike grenade, not Zolimox's frag grenade, that killed Doobie.

"Come down here and fight!"

Zolimox firs his AR up at cazador who's jumping down after retrieving the rocket launcher. (Zolimox assassinated cazador after he landed.)

Game 4: Handicap Leader (Slayer) on Construct

Image/Video Description

Red fire, blue fire

cazador incinerates Xor1an, but Xor1an sticks cazador.

Game 5: Handicap Leader (Slayer) on Snowbound

Image/Video Description

Zolimox and cenotaph come to kill Xor1an. (Zolimox weakens Xor1an but Xor1an gets Zolimox with the shotgun. cenotaph finishes off the weakened Xor1an with a meele.)

FDragon finds a group of people fighting (cazador, Doobie, and Zolimox). He kills all three of them for a triple kill.

FDragon wounds Zolimox with the laser. (FDragon was not handicapped at this point, he just didn't hit Zolimox dead on.) FDraon killed Zolimox shortly after this with a meele.

Next time, laser the ghost first

FDragon lasers Zolimox and then gets splattered by cazasor.

Game 6: Handicap Leader (Slayer) on Narrows

For this game we gave everyone a sniper rifle as a secondary weapon.

Image/Video Description

Zolimox wonders how Xor1an got behind him. Xor1an wishes he'd gotten an assassination.

Old-timey Narrows

Xor1an, Zolimox, and FDragon pictured.

But where's cazador?

Zolimox snipes FDragon, denying cenotaph a kill. Scooter on the lower level of the birdge, with Xor1an behind him.

Scooter scnipts at Xor1an. (I don't usually see pople sniping the lower level of the bridge from that spot, probably because you can only sight a small part of it at that angle.)
